Entering the Desert without Provisions

‎بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Dr. Alan A. Godlas wrote that the Shafi’i jurist, and qadhi of Shiraz, Imam Abu al-‘Abbas Ahmad ibn ‘Umar ibn Surayj al-Baghdadi’s (q.s.) fatwa prohibiting takfir of Sufi expressions had saved Imam al-Mugits Husayn ibn Manswur al-Hallaj (q.s.), in 301 AH.  His death opened the way for Imam al-Hallaj (q.s.) to be condemned on political charges. 

Imam ibn Surayj al-Baghdadi (q.s.) was asked, “What do you say about a man who enters a desert without provisions?” 

He replied, “This is among the acts of the men of God.” 

Then he was asked, “So, if he dies?” 

He replied, “The blood money is the responsibility of the slayer.”   And he said, “Your anxiety about sustenance causes you to cease being aware of God, the Real and impoverishes you, making you dependent on people.” 

Once, he was asked about knowledge of the Divine Qualities.  In response, Imam ibn Surayj al-Baghdadi (q.s.) said the following: 

“A person is not able to perceive

The qualities of a person!

So how can he perceive

The qualities of the All-Compelling

God in Pre-temporality? 

God is the One Who Composed

All things, Originating them.

So how can one Created in time

By the breath of life

Perceive God?”

The Du’a of the Blind Man

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ It is narrated, from a hadits , that a blind man approached the Prophet ( s.a.w. ), and asked for a cure for his blindness.   This hadits is recorded in Jami’ at-Tirmidzi ; Sunan ibn Majah ; Musnad ibn Hanbal ; Mu’jam al-Kabir , by Imam Abu Ja‘far Muhammad ibn Jarir ath-Thabari ( r.a. ); and Mustadarak ‘ala Swahihayn , by Imam Abu ‘Abdullah Muhammad ibn ‘Abdullah al-Hakim an-Nishaburi ( r.a. ).   The version from Sunan ath-Thabari has slightly different words, but has the same general meaning. The Kufr of ‘Abd al-‘Aziz ibn ‘Abdullah ibn Baz

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ‘Abd al-‘Aziz ibn ‘Abdullah ibn Baz was the former Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia.  He was a man who waged war upon the ummah , a reviler of the awliya’ , and a takfiri of the scholars.  This was the man who demanded that the Rawdhah of the Prophet ( s.a.w. ) be levelled.  He opposed swalawat and any display of affection towards the one that Allah ( s.w.t. ) Called the best of Creation. This is the face of Shaythan .  He was a kafir and a munafiq .
