The Patience of Noah (a.s.)

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ Khwaja Shams ad-Din Muhammad Hafizh ash-Shirazi ( q.s. ) said, “If your patience is like that of Noah ( a.s. ) in the sadness of the storm, affliction will leave you, and the hopes of a thousand years will be fulfilled.”

The First “Tweet”

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ The first tweet ever.   Genesis 8:8-14 8 Then to make sure whether the waters had become shallow over all the surface of the ground, he sent out one of the doves.   9 But the dove came back to the Ark and its master, finding never a resting-place to perch on; and he put out his hand to catch it, and took it back into the Ark.   10 Seven days more he waited, and then sent the dove out from the Ark again; 11 this time, it came back to him at night-fall, with a twig of olive in its mouth, the leaves still green on it; and then Noe could not doubt that the waters had become shallow all over the ground.   12 But still he waited another seven days, and now, when he sent it out, it came back to him no more.   13 It was the first day of the first month of his six hundred and first year when the waters ebbed away from the land, and Noe, withdrawing the covering of the Ark, looked round him and found that the whole surface...

When We are Low on Hope ...

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ   Consider this.   When we are low on hope, just like Noah ( a.s. ) on the ark.   It has been almost forty days.   And there is no land in sight.   There is water, water everywhere.   Water all around and below.   Nothing but sky above.   And this was no normal flood.   These are the Waters of Wrath.   They did not merely drown everyone; they burned them as if they were the fires of damnation even though the water was not hot.   According to the sirah , a raven was sent forth first.   It never came back.   And then, Noah ( a.s. ) sent a dove.   It came back, cold and miserable and shivering.   It had flown all night and found no place to roost.   All it saw was water and more water.   In the morning, he tried again.   He said a du’a and let the bird go.   He watched it until it was a mere speck on the horizon.   And then that speck was gone. ...
