A Definition of Tafsir
بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ Imam Abu ‘Abdullah Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Baqi’ az-Zurqani ( r.a. ) defined tafsir thus: “It is the science in which one investigates, within human capacity, the various aspects of the Qur’an insofar as they indicate Allah’s ( s.w.t. ) Intentions.”
