The Naqshbandi Shaykh of al-Hujjatullah
بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ The shaykh of al-Hujjatullah , Imam Abu Hamid Muhammad ibn Muhammad al-Ghazali ( r.a. ), was the Naqshbandi shaykh , Shaykh Abu ‘Ali Fadhl ibn Muhammad al-Farmadi ath-Thusi ( q.s. ). This is mentioned in the preface for Ihya’ ‘Ulum ad-Din . Shaykh al-Farmadi ( q.s. ) was the 8 th shaykh in the Naqshbandi silsilah , chain, of transmission of spiritual knowledge.
