A Muslim Convert Once Before

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ Sayyidina Husayn ibn ‘Ali ( r.a. ) said, “He who tries to achieve something through acting disobediently to Allah ( s.w.t. ), will miss what he expects, and fall into what he fears.”

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ Sayyidina Husayn ibn ‘Ali ( r.a. ) said, “Most of the people are servants of the materialistic world, and only pay lip service to religion.   As long as they are enjoying a good life under the grace of religion, they support it.   But when they are tested with hardships, only a few are found to be religious.”

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ Sayyidina Husayn ibn ‘Ali ( r.a. ) said, “If you live for a long time, and wander in this world from the west to the east, you will not find anybody who is able to give you happiness, or remove your unhappiness, except for God.”

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ Sayyidina Husayn ibn ‘Ali ( r.a. ) said, “Some people worship Allah ( s.w.t. ) for the purpose of gaining His Gifts.   This is the worship of the merchants.   Some worship Him for the purpose of avoiding His Punishment.   This is the worship of the slaves.   Some worship Him as gratitude to Him.   This is the worship of the genuine.   It is the best worship.”

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ Sayyidina Husayn ibn ‘Ali ( r.a. ) said, “The most generous of people, is the one who gives to those from whom he has no hope of return.”

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ Sayyidina Husayn ibn ‘Ali ( r.a. ) said, “Those who are silent when others are oppressed are guilty of oppression themselves.”

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ   Sayyidina Husayn ibn ‘Ali ( r.a. ) said, “Death is a bridge to take some to their Paradise, and others to their Hell.”

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ Sayyidina Husayn ibn ‘Ali ( r.a. ) said, “Do not be aggressive towards a person who has nobody to defend against you except Allah ( s.w.t. ).”

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ Sayyidina Husayn ibn ‘Ali ( r.a. ) said, “Being thankful for what you have and already had, paves the way for future Blessing from Allah ( s.w.t. ).”

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ Our shaykh , Shaykh Ibrahim ibn ‘Abdullah Niyas al-Kawlakhi ( q.s. ) made ziyarah of both the graves of Sayyidina Husayn ibn ‘Ali ( r.a. ); in Karbala’, where his noble body is, and in Egypt, where his noble head is.   About that visit, he said in Sayr al-Qalb :   “In Karbala’, I visited al-Husayn seeking a means, To his father, the pleased one, seeking Allah. ‘Ali, the father of the two grandsons, the Lion of Muhammad, By whose sharp sword I ward off calamities!”

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ Sayyidina Husayn ibn ‘Ali ( r.a. ) said, “A man wrote to Abu Dzarr, ‘O Abu Dzarr, teach me something new of knowledge.’   Abu Dzarr replied to him, ‘Knowledge is vast.  However, if you can abstain from wronging someone that you love, do so.’   The man asked him, ‘Have you seen anyone wrong someone that he loves?’   Abu Dzarr replied, ‘Yes, your own self is the dearest of all things to you.  And when you disobey God you have wronged it.’”

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ Sayyidina Husayn ibn ‘Ali ( r.a. ) said, “How helpless and powerless is man!  He is unable to have what he desires and is incapable to keep away from what he dislikes.”

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ Sayyidina Husayn ibn ‘Ali ( r.a. ) said, about Yazid ibn Mu’awiyah, “I am on the path of truth; Yazid personifies falsehood and corruption.”

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ It was written that Sayyidina Husayn ibn ‘Ali’s ( r.a. ) stand in Karbala was the last breath of the Khulafah ar-Rashidin , the final attempt to bring back that Original Way.   He said, “I have risen up, not for oppression or arrogance, but to fix the ummah of my grandfather.”   To those who warned him of being killed by the tyrants, he replied, “And if the affairs of this ummah will not be set right except by my death, then be it.”   The Khulafah ar-Rashidin never came back after that.   It will only return with the Guided Imam , Imam al-Mahdi ( a.s. ), from the Ahl al-Bayt , in the end of times.   He will be the true successor of Sayyidina ‘Ali ( k.w. ), Sayyidina Hasan ( r.a. ) and Sayyidina Husayn ( r.a. ).   Until then, we do the best we can and make swalawat on Prophet Muhammad ( s.a.w. ) and the Family of Muhammad ( s.a.w. ).

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ The following is a video of the current Grant Mufti of Saudi Arabia, the Wahhabi scholar, ‘Abd al-‘Aziz ibn ‘Abdullah ash-Shaykh.   Here, he is recorded stating that Sayyidina Husayn ibn ‘Ali ( r.a. ), the grandson of the Prophet ( s.a.w. ), and one of the chiefs of the youth of Paradise, was guilty of rebellion against the “rightful caliph”, the apostate and tyrant, Yazid ibn Mu’awiyah, and exonerated Yazid of wrongdoing.   This is contrary to the position of the entirety of Sunni and Shi’ah Islam, and is an outrageous slur upon the Ahl al-Bayt .   This is a clear example of the kufr of this sect.   As the Grand Mufti, he is also the head of the Permanent Committee for Islamic Research & Issuing Fatwas.   In this capacity, he has made some controversial statements and fatawa .   In 2007, for example, he announced plans to demolish the Green Dome over the Rawdhah , and flatten the maqamat of the Prophet Muhammad...

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ Sayyidina Husayn ibn ‘Ali ( r.a. ) said, “What has he obtained who lost You, O Allah?  And what has he lost who found You?  One who is satisfied with anyone other than You, O Allah, has, in reality, dispossessed himself of everything?”

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ Imam Abu al-Qasim Sulayman ibn Ayyub ath-Thabarani ( r.a. ) recorded that when Sayyidina Abu Hurayrah ‘Abd ar-Rahman ibn Sakhr ad-Dawsi az-Zahrani al-Azdi ( r.a. ) was on his deathbed, the cursed Marwan entered upon him and said, “Since I have been acquainted with you, there is nothing that upsets me about you except your love for Hasan and Husayn.”   Sayyidina Abu Hurayrah ( r.a. ) replied, “I recall that I was in a journey with the Messenger of Allah ( s.a.w. ) once, and he heard the cries of Hasan and Husayn, so he rushed towards them and asked, ‘What is the matter with my sons?’   He was told, ‘Thirst.’   So, he looked for water, but none was found.   So, he then took one of the boys in his arms and made him suck his blessed tongue until he stopped crying.   Then he did the same with the other boy.   So, do you not want me to love those two after what I saw from Rasulullah (s.a.w.)?”   And yet, it shou...

Mulla Kamal ad-Din Husayn ibn ‘Ali al-Wa’izh al-Kashifi as-Sabzawari was the fifteenth-century Naqshbandi shaykh , scholar, and author of the Rawdhat ash-Shuhada’ (the Garden of Martyrs), one of the most celebrated Persian accounts of Karbala’.  He recorded in his Futuwwat Namah-yi Sultani , a Persian treatise on spiritual chivalry, that Imam Abu al-Hasan ‘Ali ibn Husayn Zayn al-‘Abidin cursed the murderers of his father, Sayyidina al-Husayn ibn ‘Ali, every time he drank water. When asked why, he said: “My father asked me to remember his thirst and curse his murderers every time I drank.” The Context of the Thirst The army of Yazid ibn Mu’awiyah blocked the Euphrates three days before the 10 th of Muharram, 61 AH.  The camp of Sayyidina al-Husayn) — his family, his companions, the women, the children, the infants — had no access to water for three days. Imam Abu ‘Abdullah Muhammad ibn Isma’il al-Bukhari narrated in his swahih that some hujjaj from Karbala approached Sayyidina ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar and asked him for the ruling on killing a mosquito while in ihram .  His response carried the force of a slap: “Look at this man!  He asks me about killing a mosquito, and they have killed the son of Rasulullah!  Indeed, I had personally heard him say, ‘Hasan and Husayn are my sons, and fragrant flowers in this world.’” Sayyidina ibn ‘Umar does not dispute that the ruling on mosquitoes has merit.  He did not accuse the questioner of asking a wrong question in the abstract.  He accused him of asking it at the wrong moment, with the wrong sense of proportion, from men who had just come from the very location where the Prophet’s own grandson had been slaughtered.  This is not a rejection of fiqh .  It is a rejection of fiqh divorced from moral weight, deployed as a distraction from the atrocity sitting directl...

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ There are different levels of ijma’ , consensus, in fiqh .  The ijma’ of the swahabah is considered one of the strongest legal proofs in fiqh .  What this means is that once all the swahabah agree on something, and this is very rare, no one in all the ummah after them can contradict that.   When Yazid ibn Mu’awiyah was made the caliph after his father, many of the swahabah gave him bay’ah for the sake of unity, even though he had no legitimacy.  Sayyidina Husayn ibn ‘Ali ( r.a. ) was not amongst those who gave the bay’ah , and it had nothing to do with the fact that Yazid and his father had opposed the rightful caliph, his father, Sayyidina ‘Ali ibn Abu Thalib ( k.w. ).   Rather, had Sayyidina Husayn ( r.a. ) followed the rest of the swahabah , he would have sealed an ijma’ making it wajib to accept a drunkard, a tyrant, and a philandering apostate as the leader of the ummah in the name of unity.  In such ...
