The Majhuliyyah & Their Definition of “‘Alim”
بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ The Majhuliyyah , an extinct Khwarijiyyah sect, were proponents of the doctrine that if someone knows Allah ( s.w.t. ) by at least some of His Names, he is to be considered as an ‘alim . This is regardless of his adab and akhlaq , or even his competency in the religious sciences.
