Covering Your Brother

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Imam Abu Hamid Muhammad ibn Muhammad al-Ghazali (r.a.), recorded, from earlier Aramaic texts, that to Jesus (a.s.), son of Mary (a.s.), said to his Apostles, “How would you act if you saw one of your brothers sleeping, and the wind had taken off his garment?”

They replied, “We would cover him.”

Jesus (a.s.) said, “No, you would expose him.”

They said, “Allah (s.w.t.) Forbid.  Who would do such a thing?”

Jesus (a.s.) replied, “When one of you hears a word against his brother, he exaggerates it, and spreads the report to others.”
