Du’a against the Plots of Enemies

The following was taught to us by our shaykh.  This is the ayat for those who have been hurt and aggrieved, those affected by slander and fitnah.

Remember how the unbelievers plotted against you, to keep you in bonds, or slay you, or get you out, (of your home).  They plot, and plan, and Allah, too, Plans, but the best of planners is Allah. (Surah al-Anfal:30)

The portion that is recited is this, with the transliteration for those who cannot read Arabic:

They plot, and plan, and Allah, too, Plans, but the best of planners is Allah.

Wa yamkuruun wa yamkuru Allah wa Allahu khayru al-makiriin.

The recitation of this ayat is for relief in a situation where people have created fitnah against us, and we seek Divine Justice.  The condition of its use with that intent is that we must be absolutely certain that we are innocent.  Its effect is that whatever evil people have done to us, they will face the consequences sevenfold.  The danger for the one who uses it whilst guilty of creating fitnah is that the reciter will be the recipient of Divine Wrath.
