Love of the Awliya’

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Imam Muhammad Taqi’ ad-Din ibn Ibrahim an-Nabhani (r.a.) stressed that one must absolutely have love for the awliya’.  He said that a righteous and upright man might still nevertheless be mostly in danger of dying out of iman if he does not love the awliya’.  On the contrary, he says that a thief or a drunkard whose heart is filled with the love of the awliya’ will not die except on tawbah due to his affection for Allah’s (s.w.t.) Beloved servants. 

The shaykh called the love of the awliya’, “wilayat as-sughra’”, “the lesser sainthood”.  He also said that the awliya’ will intercede for us in our graves.  He was also asked about a drunkard who keeps repeating “Ya ‘Abd al-Qadir!’ and “Ya Rifa’i!”.  The shaykh replied that the man did not die except on tawbah. 

Why is this?  This is because iman is a Divine Gift, and is conditional upon Divine Pleasure.  Our ‘ibadah is the seeking of Divine Pleasure.  It is the reality of our acts of love.  And the surest path to Divine Pleasure is to love that which Allah (s.w.t.) loves, which is the Prophet (s.a.w.) and the pious.  If we cannot love the Prophet (s.a.w.) because we do not know him, then at least love the awliya’, for they remind us of the Prophet (s.a.w.).  And when we love them, they love us, and when they love us, Allah (s.w.t.) Loves us.  And how can anyone Loved by Allah (s.w.t.) be in a state of loss?

The Du’a of the Blind Man

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ It is narrated, from a hadits , that a blind man approached the Prophet ( s.a.w. ), and asked for a cure for his blindness.   This hadits is recorded in Jami’ at-Tirmidzi ; Sunan ibn Majah ; Musnad ibn Hanbal ; Mu’jam al-Kabir , by Imam Abu Ja‘far Muhammad ibn Jarir ath-Thabari ( r.a. ); and Mustadarak ‘ala Swahihayn , by Imam Abu ‘Abdullah Muhammad ibn ‘Abdullah al-Hakim an-Nishaburi ( r.a. ).   The version from Sunan ath-Thabari has slightly different words, but has the same general meaning. The Kufr of ‘Abd al-‘Aziz ibn ‘Abdullah ibn Baz

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ‘Abd al-‘Aziz ibn ‘Abdullah ibn Baz was the former Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia.  He was a man who waged war upon the ummah , a reviler of the awliya’ , and a takfiri of the scholars.  This was the man who demanded that the Rawdhah of the Prophet ( s.a.w. ) be levelled.  He opposed swalawat and any display of affection towards the one that Allah ( s.w.t. ) Called the best of Creation.
