Entertaining Deviants

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Shaykh Abu al-Huda Muhammad ibn Ibrahim al-Ya’qubi said, “My father gave me a precious piece of advice: Never engage in refutations.  And one of the basic pieces of wisdom we learnt from the ‘ulama is the following: Never lend your ears to a deviant, to a person of aberrance.  Because the moment you lend your ears, he owns you; he has control over you.  That is to say, a drop will not leave any traces on a rock, but continuing dropping on the same spot will leave some impact after a while.  All they need from you is to listen.  Listening once, then again and again, will convince you that this is the truth.”
