Sama’ for the Seeker & the Arrived

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Shaykh Abu al-Mawahib Muhammmad ibn Zaghdan ash-Shadzili (q.s.) said, “Sama’ is stimulating to the people of the beginning, whereas to the people of the end it is without influence.  For you see mountains and think them fixed, while they pass away as clouds do.  Sama’ comes not through the ears, but through the hearts in the realm of the unseen.  The man of the beginning seeks the song of the shepherd to quiet his longings, while the man of the end is tranquil at the presence of the meeting.”
