Quora Answer: Why do Muslims Accept Jesus (a.s.) as the Jewish Messiah When He Failed to Establish the Messianic Age?

The following is my answer to a Quora question: “Why do the Muslims accept Jesus of Nazareth as the Jewish Messiah, and his Second Coming, when he failed to establish the Messianic age?

Muslims believe that Jesus (a.s.) was a prophet, and he came as a prophet.  And that he was Taken Up by God, and he will come again, as the Messiah to defeat the Anti-Christ.  And then, he will establish the Messianic Age.  He was not supposed to establish any Messianic Age in his first coming since that was not his mission.  This is his first mission:

Matthew 5:17

17 “Do not think that I have come to set aside the law and the prophets; I have not come to set them aside, but to bring them to perfection.”

And this is who he was Sent to:

Matthew 15:24

24 And he answered, “My errand is only to the lost sheep that are of the house of Israel.”

24 Ipse autem respondens ait: Non sum missus nisi ad oves, quæ perierunt domus Israël.
