Quora Answer: Is the World Preferable Now, or if We All had the Same Religion?

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

The following is my answer to a Quora question: “Which is more preferable: the world as it is right now; or a world where every single person followed one and the same religion, be it Islam, Christianity, Judaism, or anything else?

Certainly the world as it is now.  Even within the same religion, there are variant interpretations, deviations from orthodoxy and levels of realisation.  People are not the same.  They have different levels of understanding, adherence to doctrine and submission to the Divine.  And the variety of faith traditions and philosophies reflect that.  Even if there were one religion, and all monotheists believe that there was originally only one, it would still fracture into a multitude of traditions to reflect the multitudinous reflections of our conception of the Divine.
