The Difference between “Muslim” & “Muslim”
بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
When we walk the path and put ourselves in the care of the self, it becomes impossibly difficult. But when we put ourselves in the Hand of God, it is easy by His Will. So, we must put aside the self, and surrender to His Will. That is what “aslamtu” is.
People read the Qur’an, and see all these prophets and the pious referred to as “muslim”, and imagine that it is the same as “Muslim”. They are muslim because they have submitted to Divine Will, and put their hands in His Hand. This is Divine Affirmation, and Elevation. But those who call themselves “Muslim” are named thus because it is a label, and an identifier of adherence to the organised faith that we recognise as Islam. It is hubris to believe that mere claim of adherence to Islam makes one the same as those who submitted to Allah (s.w.t.). Piety is not the lottery of birth.
