The Majhuliyyah & Their Definition of “‘Alim”

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

The Majhuliyyah, an extinct Khwarijiyyah sect, were proponents of the doctrine that if someone knows Allah (s.w.t.) by at least some of His Names, he is to be considered as an ‘alim.  This is regardless of his adab and akhlaq, or even his competency in the religious sciences.
