Imam as-Sarakhsi (r.a.): It is Sunnah to Give Gifts & Maintain Relations with Non-Muslim Family

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Imam as-Sarakhsi (r.a.) said, “It has been mentioned on the authority of Abi Marwan al-Khuza’i who said, ‘I told Mujahid that there is a family relation between me and a certain person from the disbelievers and I owe him money.  Should I give it to him?’

And Mujahid said, ‘Yes, and you should keep family ties with him.’”

From this, we know that it is sunnah to give gifts to non-Muslim family, and it is emphasised to maintain relations.
