Mawlid is Superior to Laylat al-Qadr

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Imam Shihab ad-Din Abu al-‘Abbas Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Qasthalani (r.a.) wrote, in al al-Muwahib al-Ladunniyya bi al-Minah al-Muhammadiyyah, on the superiority of the Night of Mawlid, to the Night of Decree, Laylat al-Qadr.  He said, “The Night of Prophet’s (s.a.w.) birth is superior due to three reasons.  He arrived on the Night of Mawlid whereas the Night of Decree was Granted to him.  Therefore, the arrival of the Prophet (s.a.w.) is greater than what has been Granted to him, hence the Night of Mawlid is higher in virtue.

If the Night of Decree is a virtuous because the angels descend, then Night of Mawlid has the virtue of the Prophet (s.a.w.) being Sent to world.  The Prophet (s.a.w.) is superior to angels, therefore night of Mawlid becomes superior.  Due to the Night of Decree, the ummah of Muhammad (s.a.w.) was Given eminence, whereas due to the Night of Mawlid, all Creation was exalted, as the Prophet (s.a.w.) is Sent as a Mercy to Creation, hence the Blessing was made general for all Creation.”

So, we should celebrate the Mawlid, and be grateful.  Only the heedless ignore it, and the kafirun deny it.
