Safety from the Ocean of Anger

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ 

The following is adapted from a swuhbah from Shaykh Muhammad Nazhim Adil al-Haqqani (q.s.) on the 06^th February 2010. 

Allah (s.w.t.) has Bestowed immense Honours on humanity.  Each time Allah (s.w.t.) mentions man in the Qur’an, it is an added Honour and Blessing.  It is a Gift and Pleasure upon our souls and these Descend upon us like rain falling from the sky.  We have yet to understand the magnitude of that Honour and the Respect that Allah (s.w.t.) Gives us.  It is an Honour with no boundaries but our minds cannot grasp that Gift.  The angels stand for eons in honour of Allah (s.w.t.).  On the other hand, we are so weak that we get tired quickly.  If only we could stand all our lives to honour Allah (s.w.t.) without complaining, just like the angels.  Angels do not complain.  They are happy to be in Allah’s (s.w.t.) service.  We must be happy to be in His service too. 

Some so-called learned scholars are always grouchy, fierce and unapproachable.  They try to create an aura of holiness around themselves by doing so.  They frown and scowl when they teach and advice.  Some appear serious and angry all the time so that the unbelievers will fear them.  Is it not an Islamic teaching that unbelievers must fear us.  Is it a sign of our perceived importance when we behave in this crude and indifferent manner.  None should consider himself above another for their Lord and our Lord is one and the same Lord.  People learn such behaviour from Shaythan.  Shaythan is angry.  He has been ever since the day Allah (s.w.t.) Commanded him to prostrate to Adam (a.s.).  He has been angry ever since that moment and he will remain so until Judgement Day.  At every moment, Iblis is an angry creature.  He was Created from fire and anger is also from fire.  He has hated humanity ever since.  He is never happy to see us happy.  Shaythan is a miserable creature, filled with hatred, bitterness and vengeance. 

From the moment Allah (s.w.t.) Commanded Iblis to prostrate to Adam (a.s.), his anger erupted just like glowing coal bursting into flames, and that burning ocean of anger engulfed this world, from East to West, and from the North to the South, and that fire will continue to burn until Judgement Day.  That burning ocean of hate does not grow weaker.  Instead, day by day, it grows in intensity, engulfing more of the Children of Adam.  Shaythan is pleased to see them destroy themselves by fighting amongst themselves with the spread of hatred, racism, discrimination, wars and terrorism.  When Shaythan saw the wide-spread effects of this burning anger engulfing humans, he was pleased.  He seeks to ensure that we burn on this Earth. 

سُوۡرَةُ الاٴعرَاف

قَالَ أَنظِرۡنِىٓ إِلَىٰ يَوۡمِ يُبۡعَثُونَ (١٤) قَالَ إِنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُنظَرِينَ (١٥) قَالَ فَبِمَآ أَغۡوَيۡتَنِى لَأَقۡعُدَنَّ لَهُمۡ صِرَٲطَكَ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقِيمَ (١٦) ثُمَّ لَأَتِيَنَّهُم مِّنۢ بَيۡنِ أَيۡدِيہِمۡ وَمِنۡ خَلۡفِهِمۡ وَعَنۡ أَيۡمَـٰنِہِمۡ وَعَن شَمَآٮِٕلِهِمۡ‌ۖ وَلَا تَجِدُ أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ شَـٰكِرِينَ (١٧) قَالَ ٱخۡرُجۡ مِنۡہَا مَذۡءُومً۬ا مَّدۡحُورً۬ا‌ۖ لَّمَن تَبِعَكَ مِنۡہُمۡ لَأَمۡلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنكُمۡ أَجۡمَعِينَ (١٨) 

He said, “Give me Respite until the day they are Raised up.”  (Allah) Said, “Be you amongst those who have respite.”  He said, “Because you have Thrown me out of the Way, lo!  I will lie in wait for them on Your Straight Way.  Then will I assault them from before them and behind them, from their right and their left: nor will You find, in most of them, gratitude (for Your Mercies).”  (Allah) Said, “Get out from this, Disgraced and Expelled.  If any of them follow you, Hell will I Fill with you all.” (Surah al-A’araf:14-18) 

Shaythan shows no adab even to his Lord Who Gave him life and is proud of defying Allah (s.w.t.).  The angels cursed Shaythan when he said those words, saying and Shaythan fell into a coma for forty years from that curse.  When he awoke, Shaythan has not smiled again since. 

Shaythan’s traps are meant to drag all of us into darkness.  He has spread so much problems today, everyone feels miserable and dejected.  Even rulers and governments are not spared his evil influence.  Everyone has been touched by Shaythan’s darkness.  Shaythan extends his work through his appointed representatives, dictators who bring untold sufferings to millions.  Cruel leaders like Hitler and Stalin killed millions.  Close to half a billion people died under such dictators.  They were Shaythan’s tools in dispensing suffering in this world.  The Prophet (s.a.w.) said, after the rule of sulthans, will come a time of tyrants and dictators.  We have seen the truth of his words.  After the French Revolution that removed the monarchy and removed Christianity and God from the government of the country, democratic movements began throughout the world, kings were overthrown, and many tyrants and dictators, under the guise of bringing a better life to their citizens, ruled with iron fists, killing so many people in that process, bringing a chapter of misery and suffering never seen before in this world.  In reality, a ruler is to serve its people.  If they do so, there will be peace, prosperity and happiness in that country.  If they do not, then Shaythan prevails. 

The solution lies in the hadits qudsi. Allah (s.w.t.) Tells to us to be His good and sincere servant and follow the true guides, the swadiqin, that He Sent us.  Many have left the good deeds that Allah (s.w.t.) Enjoined upon us and have immersed themselves in evil.  Allah’s (s.w.t.) Curse Befalls them and calamities descend.  We are besieged by countless disasters and endless difficulties because so many reject the ones that Allah (s.w.t.) Sent to guide us. 

سُوۡرَةُ التّوبَة

يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ ٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَكُونُواْ مَعَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ (١١٩) 

O you who believe!  Fear Allah and be with those who are true (in word and deed). (Surah at-Tawbah:119)
