Quora Answer: Who are the Jews & Christians Who Will Enter Paradise?

The following is my answer to a Quora question: “According to Islam, who are the Jews and Christians who will enter Paradise?

There are two similar ayat, verses , that Mention the fate of the Christians and the Jews:

Those who believe (in the Qur’an) and those who follow the Jewish (Scriptures) and the Christians and the Sabians, any who believe in Allah and the Last Day and work righteousness, shall have their Reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. (Surah al-Baqarah:62)

Those who believe (in the Qur’an) those who follow the Jewish (Scriptures) and the Sabians and the Christians ― any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness ― on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. (Surah al-Ma’idah:69)

The fact that it is Mentioned twice means that it is significant, and a Divine Promise of the highest order.  For those who do not know Islam, and have never had that chance for it to be opened to them, they are Judged according to their laws, and avail themselves upon the intercession of their own prophets, and in this case, it is Moses (a.s.) for the Jews and Jesus (a.s.) for the Christians.

Whilst there are many verses of the Qur’an that Castigate the Jews and Christians for their deviation in creed, Allah (s.w.t.) does not Cease Honouring them with the title “Ahl al-Kitab”, “People of Scripture”.

In the end, we are Reminded that Allah (s.w.t.) Alone is Maaliki Yawm ad-Din, the Master of the Day of Judgement.  As such, only He Alone Knows who is Granted Paradise and who is Condemned to Hell.  Nowhere does it state in the Qur’an that Muslims go to Heaven, or Muslims alone go to Heaven.  Allah (s.w.t.) has Promised a Reward for the believers and a Punishment for the sinners.  He Alone Judges the believers and the sinners, but He Does Promise this:

We shall Set Up scales of justice for the Day of Judgement, so that not a soul will be dealt with unjustly in the least.  And if there be (no more than) the weight of a mustard seed, We will Bring it (to account): and enough are We to Take Account. (Surah al-Anbiya’:47)

And that suffices us.
