Quora Answer: What Do We Call a Person Who Believes in Allah (s.w.t.)?

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

The following is my answer to a Quora question: “What is a person who believes in Allah called?

“Allah” is simply the Arabic term for “God”.  A person who believes in God is a theist.  The term “Allah” is used by Arabic-speakers of different faiths to refer to God.  If he happens to follow the religion of Islam, he is a Muslim.  If he happens to follow the religion of Christianity, then he is a Christian.  And so forth.
