The Purpose of Khilafah

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Shaykh Muhammad al-Mishry ibn ‘Abdullah al-‘Alawi at-Tijani (q.s.) said, “The objective and goal of the existence of the khalifah of Allah (s.w.t.), is gnosis of Allah (s.w.t.), because Allah (s.w.t.) does not die in order to leave behind a khalifah to succeed Him, and He is not incapacitated in order for him to need a khalifah to help Him and support Him.  Therefore, what is the secret behind the existence of the khalifah?

The answer to that is that Allah (s.w.t.) was with no direction attributable to Him, and where eyes cannot perceive Him, so He brought to us a khalifah, who has a direction, and who can be perceived by the vision of the eyes.  So, the existence of the khalifah is for our benefit and not due to any need of Allah (s.w.t.) for him, because Allah (s.w.t.) is Absolutely Independent from needing this world, before the world, along with the world and after the world.”
