Quora Answer: Can There be a Truce in the War between Good & Evil?

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

The following is my answer to a Quora question: “Can there be a truce in the war between good and evil?

The problem with this question is the premise that evil is an existent entity in and of itself.  If we consider the theodetic argument, evil is the absence of good manifest in the same way that physically, heat is the absence of cold by degrees and darkness is the absence of light by gradation.  Since “evil” does not actually exist by itself, then there is no war and there can be no truce.  That would like a man who is having an argument with his image in the mirror and asking for a truce.
