He Never Called Himself “Imam”
بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
The father of my shaykh, Shaykh ‘Umar ibn ‘Abdullah Bagharib (q.s.), was a wali, and the imam of the Khadijah Mosque for thirty-three years. He was a teacher of thousands, and his student were also teachers and scholars. He was the shaykh of the Qadri thariqa’. The mosque was known, in his time. as Masjid Bagharib, after him. Yet, he never called himself “imam”. But now, we have people who append that title to their names, and call themselves by it.
