Divine Protection from the Rule of the Boys

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Imam Abu Bakr ‘Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Abu Shaybah (r.a.), the shaykh of Imam Abu ‘Abdullah Muhammad ibn Isma’il al-Bukhari (r.a.), said that Sayyidina Abu Hurayrah ‘Abd ar-Rahman ibn Sakhr ad-Dawsi az-Zahrani al-Azdi (r.a.) used to supplicate, “O Allah, Protect me from the sixtieth year, and the rule of the boys.”

Imam Shihab ad-Din Abu al-Fadhl Ahmad ibn ‘Ali ibn Hajr al-‘Asqalani (r.a.) wrote in explanation of this statement in Fath al-Bari: “He was referring to the rule of Yazid as it was in the sixtieth year.”

Sayyidina Abu Hurayrah (r.a.) had received this knowledge about the evil of Yazid, and his murderous rule from the Prophet (s.a.w.) himself.  Allah (s.w.t.) Accepted this du’a of Sayyidina Abu Hurayrah (r.a.), and he passed away in 59 AH.
