Two Neglected Conditions of the Believer

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

There are two conditions of a believer that are neglected in this age.  The first is husn azh-zhan, thinking well, of Allah (s.w.t.), whereby one believes, no matter the conditions of the moment, that His Wisdom, His Compassion and His Love Allows it for something better than we can imagine.  He who does not have it, loses his religion.  He has ascribed an inadequacy to Perfection.  It is the worst form of lack of adab.

The second is husn azh-zhan, thinking well, of Creation.  Shaykh Abu Swalih Hamdun ibn ‘Umarah al-Qaswswar (q.s.), the Malamatiyyah shaykh who followed the madzhab of Imam Abu ‘Abdullah Sufyan ibn Sa’id ats-Tsawri (r.a.), said, “If a friend among your friends errs, make seventy excuses for him.  If your hearts are unable to do this, then know that the shortcoming is in your own selves.”
