Search for the Quthb

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

It is said that when Imam Abu al-Hasan ‘Ali ibn ‘Abdullah ash-Shadzili (q.s.) went to lraq, he met Shaykh Abu al-Fath Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Wasithi (q.s.).  His quest was for the quthb.  Shaykh al-Wasithi (q.s.), one of the awliya’, said to him, “Are you searching for the quthb in lraq while he is in your country?  Return to your land, and you will find him.”

So he returned to the Maghrib where he met his teacher, who was his shaykh, the quthb, Mawlay Abu Muhammad ‘Abd as-Salam ibn Sulayman ibn Mashishi (q.s.), and he took his thariqa’ from him.
