Divine Generosity

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Imam Abu al-Hasan ‘Ali ibn ‘Abdullah ash-Shadzili (q.s.) wrote, in Hizb al-Kabir, “For Your Generosity is not confined to those who obey and draw near You, but is freely given from aforetime to whomever You will of Your Creation, even if they disobey and turn away from You.  For it is not of generosity to show goodness only to those who show it to You, Who are the Magnanimous and Free of All Need, but rather it is of generosity to show goodness to those who show evil towards You, Who are the All-Compassionate and Exalted.”
