Shaykh Hamza Yusuf: The Prophet (s.a.w.) Came to Teach Us We are Meant for Something Amazing

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Shaykh Hamza Yusuf said, “When you have a culture that does not inculcate respect for other people, they break.  We are fragile beings, we are human, and we have hearts.  And, we were meant for something amazing.  That is what the Prophet (s.a.w.) came to teach us: that we are meant for something amazing.

He treated those who would be considered lower than us with such respect and dignity.  Everyone was significant with the Prophet (s.a.w.) because he did not see the outward; he saw the inward.  He did not see the PhD, the rich man; he saw the human heart that was in front of him.  He knew the good, the bad and the ugly - and he treated each one of them with respect.  The good because of their goodness, the bad out of hopes that they would become good, and the ugly because he understood that Allah (s.w.t.) has a secret in His Creation.  He Elevates some and He Abases others.”
