Sufi Orders Should Not be Endorsing Political Candidates

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

I think it is very dangerous when certain Sufi orders start openly endorsing or supporting this or that candidate, politician or ruler.  When these candidates inevitably engage in acts that are contrary to Islam, does that mean the shaykh endorses it as well?

What can we say when people question if the endorses their candidate’s arrest and detention without trial of journalists and opposition activists?  What about said candidate’s aggression against minorities?  Or corruption, nepotism and divisive policies? Since when did Sufis involve God in our dirty politics?  Are we no better than the kuffar then?
