Why Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) was the First Prophet

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Imam Taj ad-Din Abu Naswr ʻAbd al-Wahhab ibn ʻAli as-Subki (r.a.) said, “It has been said that Allah (s.w.t.) Created the spirits before the bodies, and the Prophet’s (s.a.w.) reference to his prophecy in the hadits, ‘I was a Prophet before Adam was still between the spirit and the body,’ may be a reference to his blessed spirit and to the Reality of Realities.  Our minds fall short of knowing such a Reality, but its Creator Knows it, and also those to whom He Extends a Madad of light from Him.  Allah (s.w.t.) Brings to existence whichever of these realities that He Likes in the time that He Pleases.  As for the reality of the Prophet (s.a.w.), it is most likely that it was before the Creation of Adam, and Allah (s.w.t.) Gave it its prophetic attribute upon its Creation; therefore, already at that time, he was the Prophet (s.a.w.).”
