A Stay of Execution

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

One time, the ruler ordered that a man be executed.  That man came to Imam Ahmad al-Faruqi ibn ‘Abd al-Ahad as-Sirhindi (q.s.) and said, “Please write a stay of execution for me.”

He wrote to the ruler, “Do not execute this man.”  The ruler was afraid of Imam Ahmad al-Faruqi (q.s.), and pardoned the man.
