Translating Belief into Action

The following is a transcript of discourse given by Mawlana Wafi’ Muhammad.

Allah (s.w.t.) Says:

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

By the fig and the olive, and the Mount of Sinai, and this city of security ― We have indeed Created man in the best of moulds.  Then do We Abase him (to be) the lowest of the low ― except such as believe and do righteous deeds: for they shall have a reward unfailing.  Then what can, after this, contradict thee; as to the Judgment (to come)?  Is not Allah the Wisest of Judges? (Surah at-Tin :1-8)

Allah (s.w.t.) Created us from the best of the earth, and the most refined light; and He Put us all at the lowest level, we begin life with nothing in our record; although there is nothing against us.  Allah (s.w.t.) is Just so we all begin life on a common ground.  What makes the difference?  Those who believe and do righteous deeds.  They are the ones that will ascend to their Lord.  So the extent of our belief and the amount of good in which we engage will get us closer and closer to Allah (s.w.t.).  Allah (s.w.t.) is Dzu al-Ma'arij, The Owner of the Ascending Stairway.  On the Day of Judgement, some humans will be worst than animals.  Why?  Animals will not have Judgement therefore they are not at risk of being thrown in Hell Fire.  But man will, and the way of getting out of the abyss is by believing in Allah (s.w.t.) and doing good.

Believe is one thing.  What must be done is translating this belief into action and only then would we be truly special.  And this is where Prophet Abraham (a.s.) shone out.  He dedicated his entire personality to Allah (s.w.t.) and because of this dedication he ascended so high that Allah (s.w.t.) made him Khalilullah, the Friend of Allah (s.w.t.).  If we are prepared to utilise the Gifts that Allah (s.w.t.) has Blessed us with in a righteous and appropriate manner, we too will also attain closeness to Him.  It all depends on our intentions and deeds.  We beg Allah (s.w.t.), in this blessed and holy month that He Enables us to translate our beliefs into righteous and beneficial actions that would help us ascend and attain nearness to Him, insha’Allah.
