The Sincere & the Rebellious

The following is adapted from a swuhbah from Shaykh Muhammad Nazhim Adil al-Haqqani (q.s.) on the 06th April 2010.

Shaykh Nazhim (q.s.) says that Shaythan does not have to make much effort in the world to mislead.  The disbelievers are already bent on self-destruction.  There is little that Shaythan needs to do there.  It is in Muslim countries and organisations that Shaythan is very active for he knows his greatest threat lies there.  This is why he makes unwavering efforts at sowing dissension, extremism and deviation within the ummah.

The strength of a human being lies in his spirituality and one who has been given Divine support is a deadly enemy to Shaythan.  Shaythan fears the rise of a sincere servant of Allah (s.w.t.), for such a one, is beyond his sphere of influence.

(Iblis) said, “O my Lord!  Because You have Put me in the wrong, I will make (wrong) fair-seeming to them on the earth, and I will put them all in the wrong ― Except Your servants among them, sincere and Purified (by Your Grace).” (Surah al-Hijr:39-40)

Such a sincere servant would ask where the real Islam is today.  And he would seek to uphold the mission of Rasulullah (s.a.w.).  He will oppose all those who seek to expand Shaythan's kingdom, be they amongst man or jinn.  Believers will know who is on the side of their Lord and who is with Shaythan by the signs on their faces.  The evil ones have spiritually darkened faces steeped in ugliness.  We must ask ourselves, on whose side are we on?  Are we with the Prophet (s.a.w.) or are we with Shaythan, the mujrimun?  Allah (s.w.t.) Says in Surah YaSin:

And O you in sin!  Get you apart this Day! (Surah YaSin:59)

Each ayat of the Qur'an is a Heavenly Ocean so we should ponder about this ayat.  It is Revealed that Allah (s.w.t.) will Command the two camps to move apart, on that Day.  There are two camps; muhkliswin, the sincere, and mujrimun, the defiant.  It is very disturbing that: today almost every Muslim country, organization and individual, could be classified as mujrimun by the Divine for none truly uphold Islamic beliefs or behaviour anymore.  They are living the non-Islamic way of life.  Where are the leaders who truly understand Islam and guide their followers by its teachings?  The Prophet (s.a.w.) never advised his ummah to follow the ways of the disbelievers.  But today, none of the Muslim countries truly uphold the shari’ah.  That is why they are all classified as mujrimun.

Many try to deceive Allah (s.w.t.) by trying to give the impression that they are indeed upholding Islamic values and beliefs when in fact they are deviant.  Allah (s.w.t.) cannot be fooled and He is Displeased with those who try to do so.  Merely saying we believe is not faith.  It is insufficient – one has to practise the teachings of the religion to be a believer.

Of the people there are some who say, “We believe in Allah and the Last Day,” but they do not (really) believe. (Surah al-Baqarah:8)

The desert Arabs, say, “We believe.”  Say, “You have no faith; but you (only) say ‘We have submitted our wills to Allah,’ for not yet has faith entered your hearts.  But if you obey Allah and His Messenger, He will not belittle aught oft your deeds: for Allah is Oft-Forgiving Most Merciful.” (Surah al-Hujraat:14)

There are many people who waste their time on frivolous activities and make it far more important than it really is.  They have neglected their duties and their ‘ibadah in the pursuit of dunya.

This is a warner of the (series of) warners of old!  The (judgement) ever approaching draws nigh: No (soul) but Allah can Lay it bare.  Do you then wonder at this recital?  And will ye laugh and not weep ― Wasting your time in vanities? (Surah an-Najm:56-61)

The heedless will be Punished by Allah (s.w.t.), just as Allah (s.w.t.) Sent down his Divine punishment on the Army of Abraha al-Ashram.  Allah (s.w.t.) Destroyed that army with stones from Jahannam.

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

See you not how thy Lord Dealt with the Companions of the Elephant?  Did He not Make their treacherous plan go astray?  And He Sent against them flights of birds, striking them with stones of baked clay.  Then did He Make them like an empty field of stalks and straw, (of which the corn) has been eaten up. (Surah al-Fil:1-5)

We are in that surah now in these end times.  Today’s humans are like Abraha and his army.  They feel proud and indestructible with their worldly possessions, their “elephants” and they are striving against the Ka’bah, opposing the Divine Commandments, showing scant respect for their Lord or His Decrees.  As they march against Haqq, they will be destroyed by a heavenly onslaught, for there is no one who can take on His Lord.  The story of Abraha is not a tale of some irrelevant event long-ago.  Instead it is a constant reminder of what will befall us if we take the same route as taken by these transgressors.  Allah’s (s.w.t.) Words stand true for eternity, so beware His Wrath.  If we choose to defy and attack the truth, just because we think that we have the resources to do so, a humiliating end awaits us.

Guides have a responsibility to their followers, to remind and advise them, so do not be afraid to do so.  We must be courageous.  We must not be amongst those Cursed by Allah (s.w.t.).  We must not be turned into apes and swine.  We must leave being in Abraha's army and leave the company of the mujrimun.  We must be amongst the sincere.

Say: “Shall I point out to you something much worse than this, (as judged) by the treatment it Received from Allah?  Those who incurred the Curse of Allah and His Wrath, those of whom some He Transformed into apes and swine, those who worshipped evil; ― these are (many times) worse in rank and far more astray from the even Path! (Surah al-Ma’idah:60)
