Leave Our Fantasies for Reality

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

The following is adapted from a swuhbah from Shaykh Muhammad Nazhim Adil al-Haqqani (q.s.) on the 01st March 2010.

There are two types of support for us: Divine Support and material support.  Billions of people cling strongly to material support.  They depend completely on wealth and power.  They believe that these earthly treasures are their keys to an endless life on earth.  Once the materialistic have tasted the refreshing pleasures of this earthly life, they want to live forever.  The analogy of one depending on material support is like a man depending on an ant for help.  True believers know this, and they always seek Divine Support, madad.  Hence, there is knowledge that is known to believers, which is not known to the unbelievers.  The believers understand something of their worldly missions to different extents, as compared to unbelievers.  The unbelievers have no understanding at all about their reason for existence.

The believers must know what religion is about.  The Prophet (s.a.w.) said, “ad-Diyn an-naswihah,” “This religion is about good advice.”  So, whenever believers meet, it is important that they advise one another.  Advice is actually Divine Support.  It protects and guides those who accept it so we should seek out good advice.  Since advice is Divine Support, it does not come from this dunya.  Secular philosophers give “advice” from their intellect.  Such “advice” is from dunya.  It is not a form of Divine Support.  It may simply be a creation of disturbed and foolish minds, unstable and fickle people, whose opinions change repeatedly.  They may have one idea during the night, and a different one during the day, or they may have one idea when they are hungry, and yet another when they are full or they may have one idea during summer, but a completely opposing one during winter.  Such people are at the lowest point of understanding.  Their teachings have spread much unbelief and confusion amongst people.  Incredibly, these day dreamers are much sought after by equally foolish individuals.  They all live in a world of make-believe, and they reject reality, just like Shaythan.

Iblis is a great day dreamer and fantasist.  He is the creature with the greatest ego amongst the creation.  Before he knew that Rasulullah (s.a.w.) was going to be Allah’s (s.w.t.) Representative in this universe, he was already imagining, that he would be Chosen to represent his Lord.  He fancied himself as the best choice.  His ego egged him on, and he continued in that daydream for a long time.  When the reality dawned that the Chosen one was Muhammad (s.a.w.), he exploded in anger.  He could not accept reality.  It was not as he had imagined it to be.

How often have our daydreamsbeen shattered by reality?  Fantasy and reality are worlds apart.  We must learn to reject our make-believe and accept the reality of what Allah (s.w.t.) has Destined before us.  We must seek Divine knowledge.  It leads to Reality.  Other types of knowledge lead to fantasies.  When Allah (s.w.t.) Commanded Iblis to prostrate to Adam (a.s.), Iblis rebelled.

(Iblis) said, “I am better than he: You Created me from fire, and him, You Created from clay." (Surah Swad:76)

Today, billions follow Iblis’ footsteps, following philosophers with nonsensical ideas, just like a chameleon, always changing its skin colour.  Each day, false guides create new ideas, spreading darkness and falsehood, the fruits of their egoistic imagination.  Our generation lives in a world of imagination, but we were not Created to live in fantasy.  We were Created to live in Reality, and that reality is as Allah’s (s.w.t.) servants.  By following Shaythan’s ways, we fighting our Lord’s Will and be drowned in difficulties and afflictions.  The ego loves to imagine itself as the leader.  It wants to be followed by others.  It does not like to follow.  Tyrants want to be hailed by their citizens, and they also want other countries to follow their leadership, yet in reality, they are leading their people to the Fire.

Every fantasy that we imagine, always depicts us as the idolised one around whom all else gravitate towards.  Our ego loves that and is reluctant to be brought down to earth by reality.  It resists our efforts to accept reality.  Those who reject reality, will be visited by their Lord’s Punishments.  Scholars must give advice to the masses, as religion is advice, and many people need to be saved from deviant ideologies and Divine Chastisement.  Instead of debating on petty things like whether a hadits is strong or weak, just take from the vast al Qur’an itself and advise.  So many Muslim nations now adopt the ways of the unbelievers.  It is a terrible tragedy as the ways of Islam are Blessed and have Divine support, whilst the ways of the idolater are human creations, devoid of Divine Support.  So many Muslims have also become Shayithan’s followers.

In the blessed month of Rabi’ al-Awwal, the seven heavens are bedecked with lights and decorations to celebrate Mawlid.  Christians celebrate the birthday of Nabi ‘Isa (a.s.) with so much gaiety and love, yet some Muslims disregard the Mawlid celebrations, even labeling them as bid’ah.  These same Muslims would actually pay more attention to their children’s birthdays, than the Prophet’s (s.a.w.).  People who scornfully belittle Rasulullah (s.a.w.) should remember the perfection of faith for all the previous ummah of each prophet was for them to have faith in Rasulullah (s.a.w.).

We do not follow philosophers or tyrants or false guides.  They are all liars.  We follow those endowed with Divine Support.  We must follow the Prophet (s.a.w.) and his inheritors and also follow his companions, for Allah (s.a.w.) had said in the Qur’an that He was Pleased with them all, so do not belittle them either.

Allah’s Good Pleasure was on the believers when they swore fealty to you under the tree: He Knew what was in their hearts and He Sent Down Tranquility to them and He Rewarded them with a speedy victory; (Surah al-Fath:18)

Death is very near to us, the Day of Resurrection lies just ahead.  So, leave our fantasies and come to Reality.  In that lies our honour.
