How to Perform Swalah al-Hubb

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

This is the method for performing swalah al-hubb or the swalah of love as taught by Shaykh Muhammad Adnan Qabbani (q.s.), Khalifa of Shaykh Muhammad Nazhim Adil al-Haqqani (q.s.).  This was taught to the Naqshbandi Haqqani.  Shaykh Nazhim (q.s.) has said that this is a special swalah hajat that can be done when a need arises.  It is similar to swalah tasabih, but instead of a four rak’ah prayer that swalah tasabih is, this sunnah prayer only comprises of two rak’ah.

In the first raka’at, before reciting Surah al-Fatihah, one should recite “Subbuhun Quddusun, Rabbuna wa Rabb al-mala’ikati wa ar-ruh,” fifteen times.  It is best to read Surah al-Ikhlasw twice after Surah al-Fatihah in that raka’at.  The tasbih of “Subbuhun Quddusun, Rabbuna wa Rabb al-mala’ikati wa ar-ruh” is then recited thus: ten times after the second surah; ten times bowing, ruku’; ten times in the standing after ruku’, i’itidal; ten times in prostration, sujud, ten times while sitting between prostrations, jalsa; and ten times in prostration, sujud again.  The total is seventy-five times in that first raka’at.

In the second raka’at, before reciting Surah al-Fatihah, one should recite any simple swalawat fifteen times.  It is best to read one Surah al-Ikhlasw after Surah al-Fatihah in that raka’at.  The swalawat is then recited thus: ten times after the second surah; ten times bowing, ruku’; ten times in the standing after ruku’, i’itidal; ten times in prostration, sujud, ten times while sitting between prostrations, jalsa; and ten times in prostration, sujud again.  The total is also seventy-five times.

After that, one makes du’a and asks Allah (s.w.t.) to Grant His Love, the Love of those He Loves, and the Love of the actions that lead to His Love.
