To Become That Which You Yearn

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Love is when you become that which you yearn

When the Self is absent though the heart would burn

It is the prelude to the Divine.

It is beyond “yours” or “mine”.

It is the Key to the Garden.

Beyond the Veil of the Ardent.

It is the Shadowless Presence.

It is the Ocean of the Absent.

True Love is the Moments of Eternity

Spent in the Oceans of Unity.

If someone has never tasted honey, how could we explain its sweetness?  If we say it is sweet, how sweet is sweet?  We could describe it in a thousand thousand words and more and yet with each telling, I could scarce explain the taste.  But if we were to put just a dollop in the mouth of the one who asks, then all the knowledge is inherent and there is no need for words.  And that is what Islam is.  It is ‘alam adz-dzawq, the realm of taste.  Until one has tasted the wine of love, he does not know wine and he does not know love.
