The Obstinacy of Iblis

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

The following is adapted from a swuhbah by Shaykh Muhammad Nazhim Adil al-Haqqani (q.s.) on the 11th December 2009.

Shaykh Nazhim (q.s.) said that we should always begin by recitingBismillahandA’udzubillahi”, and recite them frequently and constantly, for these two recitations are like swords at the necks of our egos and Shaythan.  Many Muslim leaders are ashamed to start their speeches with the Basmallah; they have abandoned this ayat, and when a person leaves the Basmallah, he is forgotten in the Divine realm, and such a person cannot rise in Divine stations.

Mankind is fearful of the spread of swine-flu or bird flu or any epidemic, but these epidemics are nothing compared to Armageddon, the massive war that will engulf the earth in flames and widespread death.  All ancient books have foretold of the coming of a war in the end times, the scale of which the world has never seen.  In that horrific war, six out of every seven person will die, and Allah’s (s.w.t.) Wrath will reduce our civilisation to dust.  Protection from Allah’s (s.w.t.) Wrath in that Armageddon will Descend on those who recite the Basmallah and for men who use the turban and for women who use the hijab.  It will protect them from fire descending from the skies, during the Armageddon, so we must not be ashamed to wear it.

The Prophet (s.a.w.) saw the descending angels, riding on heavenly horses, each angel wearing a turban.  The Prophet (s.a.w.) said that the sarban, turban is the Crown of the Arabs, and whoever discards it, will be in disgrace.  Today’s Arabs wear a strange cloth on their heads.  It is ironic that they do so, for they are Arabs.  They are aware of the Prophet’s (s.a.w.) hadits, they speak Arabic, and yet they choose to discard this sunnah of wearing a turban, and have lost their honour.  One who discards Divine Orders and the Prophet’s (s.a.w.) sunnah, has no value in Allah’s (s.w.t.) Sight.  The degree of value of a human, lies in the degree of his obedience to Allah (s.w.t.) and His Rasul (s.a.w.).

Some scholars today say that they refuse to kiss the hand of another Muslim, as it is shirk.  But Allah (s.w.t.) Ordered the angels to sujud, prostrate, to Adam (a.s.), and that was not shirk in Allah’s (s.w.t.) Sight since He Commanded that act.  How is it that these learned people are claiming that kissing the hands and respecting other Muslims, and loving and respecting the Prophet (s.a.w.), can be considered shirk?  These people must accept advice and change their ways.

We must not be like Iblis, who is stubborn and refuses to change his ways.  After Judgement has been announced in akhirah, every 100 000 years, Allah (s.w.t.) will Command the angels to take Iblis out of Jahannam, and he will be brought before Adam (a.s.).  Allah (s.w.t.) will then Say to Iblis, “Prostrate to Adam, and enter my Paradise!”

Each time, Iblis will say, “I shall never make sajdah to Adam!”  And Allah (s.w.t.) will Command the angels to take Iblis back to the Fire.  That is the swifat of Iblis.  We must not be like him.

When Shaykh Nazhim (q.s.) was in seclusion in Madina, he heard a secret voice from one of the minarets of Masjid an-Nabawi reciting istighfar, and this happened on the 15th of Rajab of that year.  Shaykh Nazhim (q.s.) says that these strange signs herald the coming of trials, so we must prepare ourselves with constant istighfar, the act of seeking Allah’s (s.w.t.) Forgiveness.  The Prophet (s.a.w.) used to ask Allah’s (s.w.t.) Forgiveness seventy times daily, and even if we did seventy billion istighfar daily, it would not be enough compared to the Prophet (s.a.w.).
