The Way of Safety

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

The following is adapted from a swuhbah from Shaykh Muhammad Nazhim Adil al-Haqqani (q.s.) on the 04th January 2010.

There is much honour and blessings in attending the majalis so Shaythan, our mortal enemy, tries to touch us with his evil whispers, telling us we should not attend the swuhbah. For those who manage to shrug off Shaythan's suggestion, Shaythan then aims that we should leave the lesson empty-handed, that we come hungry and leave hungry.  Understanding knowledge is a Great Gift from Allah (s.w.t.), so we must devote ourselves to seeking it in all matters of religion.

The Salafi scholars conveniently label some ahadits dha’if, weak, and then forbid Muslims from practicing these ahadits.  They have no authority to do this.  An example of a hadits by Rasulullah (s.a.w.) is where he said, “The amamah is the crown of the Arabs.  Whosoever honours it, Allah will Honour him, and whosoever discards it, Allah will Discard him.”  Amamah refers to the turban.  The Arabs today have discarded the turban and in its place, they wear a kaffiyah, a cloth held in place by a cord, called an ‘aghal.  In reality, it is not the Arabs who have discarded the turban, but Allah (s.w.t.) Who has Taken it away from them as they are no longer fit to wear the crown.

The 99th and last name of Allah is asw-Swabur, the Patient One.  If not for that Attribute of Allah (s.w.t.), His Wrath would have come down so often on Earth, until it would have ceased to be.  But, Allah (s.w.t.) is Patient, and Gives time to His servants to realise and repent.  We must always admit our shortcomings and seek Forgiveness from Allah (s.w.t.).  We protect ourselves from Allah's (s.w.t.) punishment by following the Way of Safety, of the Prophet (s.a.w.) and his companions.  We must never step out of that boundary of safety.  We must judge your own deeds according to our scale of understanding and ensure they are all on the Way of Safety.
