How Allah (s.w.t.) Rewards in Rajab

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

The following is derived from the teachings of Shaykh Muhammad Nazhim Adil al-Haqqani (q.s.).  Rajab is mentioned in the hadits as Rajabun Shahrullah, the month of Allah (s.w.t.).  Allah (s.w.t.) Honoured the ummah with this month, Saying, through the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.), “Rajabun Shahr Allah.”  Rajab is the month that no one knows what Allah (s.w.t.) has Opened for His servants, for His Creation.  Within this month is Given an Honour which no one knows, not even the Prophet (s.a.w.).

Shaykh ‘Abdullah al-Fa’iz ad-Daghistani (q.s.) related that Allah (s.w.t.) does not allow the Pen to write in this month except with Yad al-Qudrah, the Hand of Power.  Allah (s.w.t.) Takes the amal of His Servants.  An amal is not Rewarded on the basis of the following ayat:

سُوۡرَةُ الزّلزَلة

فَمَن يَعۡمَلۡ مِثۡقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيۡرً۬ا يَرَهُ ۥ (٧) وَمَن يَعۡمَلۡ مِثۡقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ۬ شَرًّ۬ا يَرَهُ ۥ (٨)

Then shall anyone who has done an atom’s weight of good, see it!  And anyone who has done an atom’s weight of evil, shall see it. (Surah az-Zalzalah:7-8)

The Rewards of Allah (s.w.t.) are a Secret He has Kept to Himself until Yawm al-Akhirah.  It is then that we know His Generosity to those who have honoured His month.  In this month, whoever does something of goodness, it is directly taken by Qalam al-Qudrah, the Pen that has not been given to angels.  That is the Pen which Allah (s.w.t.) Ordered to write before Creation, laa ilaha illa Allah.

As it is mentioned, in an atsar, that the Pen wrotelaa ilaha illa Allah for seventy thousand years of Allah’s (s.w.t.) time.  Then Allah (s.w.t.) Ordered it to writeMuhammadar Rasulullah”, and the Pen asked, “Who is Muhammad, that you put his name with Your Name?”

And Allah (s.w.t.) Said, “O Pen, if not for Muhammad (s.a.w.), I would never have Created anything.”  And this part is mentioned in a hadits qudsi.

That Pen is in the Divine Presence, and has not been given to angels.  It will be Given to Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) on the Day of Judgement.  In the month of Rajab, it writes the amal of those who honour Rajab.  Because of this, even the smallest amal is Rewarded to such an extent that it cannot be weighed in the Mizan.  It is Rewarded from a Hidden Treasure that has never been opened before.  And Allah (s.w.t.) is that Hidden Treasure.

For any amal done in this month, Allah (s.w.t.) Opens for the ummah that which has never been opened before.  It increases ma’arij.  Allah (s.w.t.) Gives ma’arij, ascension to those with their amal.  Anyone who does something will have a mi’raj, and that will raise him to a level that even if he does the best amal all year round he will not get Rewards as he gets for the smallest amal in this month.  Every year, the awliya’ await this month to be in seclusion because it is the month where treasures and fountains of knowledge are Opened to the heart of those in seclusion.  This is why seclusion begins in this month.  In Ramadhan, it is not seclusion.  Then, it is i’itikaf.  Seclusion begins in Rajab.

In Rajab, it is Allah (s.w.t.) that has Ordered the Pen to write the amal, not any malakun muqarrab, the angels that write the deeds when it is not Rajab.  And that is why the Prophet (s.a.w.) said to us Rajab is the month of Allah (s.w.t.) and Sha’ban is his month.  Whatever is related to Prophet (s.a.w.) from amal will be written by the Pen of the Prophet (s.a.w.).  It is a Qalam ar-Rasul, distinct from Qalam al-Qudrah.  Allah (s.w.t.) Gave Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) a Pen, and every swalawat is written by the Prophet’s (s.a.w.) Pen.  Allah (s.w.t.) Gave him that power to write for his ummah, and it will be Added and Recorded.  On the other hand, the angels have no authority.  The angels are assigned to write, but they are not assigned to reward.  Allah (s.w.t.) Rewards, and Allah (s.w.t.) Gave Muhammad (s.a.w.) authority to reward.  What Allah (s.w.t.) Rewards in Rajab is for the benefit of the ummah and without account.
